The Africa Presidential Leadership Development Fellowship Program / The Young Leaders for A New Africa Fellowship Program
The Presidential Leadership Development Fellowship (WRPLDF) Program is administered by the African Council on Foreign Relations. Each year, candidates apply to the program to be selected as Finalists. Finalists are then eligible for appointment as Presidential Leadership Development Fellows at a partner African government. The PLDF Program is an opportunity for highly qualified, potential leaders, and advanced degree holders across diverse fields.
APPROACH
The Presidential Leadership Development Fellowship (WRPLDF) Program provides rising young people with a unique opportunity to learn how they can better serve their nations and communities. During this dynamic and inclusive leadership development program, young people will do the following:
- Develop critical thinking about their personal experiences, including what they want to do for their nations and communities.
- Develop a sense of community-based project development to embrace and lead change
- Work to become a responsible citizen, positive change agent, and participant in the democratic process in their nations.
Requirement:
- Have at least a bachelor’s degree across diverse disciplines.
- Ability to complete the program including paying the fees.
- Candidates must be nominated by a government agency and corporation capable of paying the fees of the program.
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written skills) and basic level in French.
Ideal Candidates: 15
Program cost: Free and paid by sponsor governments.

Overview
In discussions with thousands and millions of young people across Africa, we experienced an urgent clarion call to develop a new breed of leaders who will tirelessly work to transform their communities and nations. Millions of youths are searching for opportunities to realize their goals and dreams in cities, towns, villages, and hamlets.
The Young Leaders for A New Africa Fellowship Program supports youth leadership development across the African continent. Our top priority is to encourage young leaders to pursue their life dreams with passion, integrity, and hope.
Through the Young Leaders for A New Africa Fellowship Program, ACFR Diplomatic School seeks to provide rising young leaders with the opportunity to learn, grow, and actively participate in the development of their communities and nations.
Continental and regional in scope, the Young Leaders for A New Africa Fellowship Program will help amplify the voices of African youth on critical issues affecting the continent.
OBJECTIVES
The Young Leaders for A New Africa Fellowship Program aims to:
- Develop skills and strong abilities, advance an interconnected change leaders’ network, and offer an avenue for partnership.
- Help young leaders develop leadership-specific abilities and capacities that support nation-building goals and programs.
- Train young leaders to become real change agents in their communities and nations.
- Promote the professional development of young people in presidential and personal leadership across 4 areas: promotion of democracy, servant leadership development, civic engagement, and personal leadership development.
- Have at least a bachelor’s degree across diverse disciplines.
- Ability to complete the program including paying the fees.
