The Africa Presidential Leadership Development Fellowship Program

The Presidential Leadership Development Fellowship (WRPLDF) Program is administered by the African Council on Foreign Relations. Each year, candidates apply to the program to be selected as Finalists. Finalists are then eligible for appointment as Presidential Leadership Development Fellows at a partner African government. The PLDF Program is an opportunity for highly qualified, potential leaders, and advanced degree holders across diverse fields.

The Presidential Leadership Development Fellowship (WRPLDF) Program is a two-year, cohort-based leadership development experience. Chaired by Dr. Jean Narcisse Djaha and accomplished African leaders, the Presidential Leadership Development Fellowship (WRPLDF) Program supports the next generation of nation-builders with extraordinary resolve to serve and run for office in the future.

APPROACH

The Presidential Leadership Development Fellowship (WRPLDF) Program provides rising young people with a unique opportunity to learn how they can better serve their nations and communities. During this dynamic and inclusive leadership development program, young people will do the following:

  • Develop critical thinking about their personal experiences, including what they want to do for their nations and communities.
  • Develop a sense of community-based project development to embrace and lead change
  • Work to become a responsible citizen, positive change agent, and participant in the democratic process in their nations.

Requirement:

  • Age range 25-35 years of age
  • Have at least a bachelor’s degree across diverse disciplines.
  • A resume and letter of interest 
  • Ability to complete the program including paying the fees.
  • Candidates must be nominated by a government agency and corporation capable of paying the fees of the program.
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written skills) and basic level in French.

Program cost: Free and paid by sponsor governments.
